We are delighted to announce that Baroness Amos, Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, United Nations, will join us in conversation on 17 June 2014 as part of our Distinguished Speaker Series.
The conversation will cover the conflict in Syria, a situation proving to be the greatest humanitarian crisis we face in the world today.
About the Speaker
Valerie Amos is the Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator. Ms. Amos brings extensive knowledge and experience to the position. She was most recently the United Kingdom’s High Commissioner to Australia.
She has been a long time campaigner and advocate on human rights, social justice and equality issues. Baroness Amos is a former Secretary of State for International Development in the British Government and was also President of the Privy Council and Leader of the House of Lords.
